A Disney executive boasted at a recent virtual townhall about how she previously had ensured Freeform, a TV station owned by the company, focused on pushing the LGBT agenda in its programming.
Karey Burke, now the president of general entertainment content, said her team at Freeform “jumped up and down” to support “inclusion.”
“When I was at Freeform, it was very much in the brand ethos of Freeform to be the tip of the spear when it comes to inclusion,” Burke said. She directed her comments at colleague Latoya Raveneau, who said during the townhall that is she is a “bi-romantic asexual.”
NEW: Disney corporate president Karey Burke, the "mother of two queer children," says the company has been "targeting Gen Z and millennials" with LGBTQIA+ "inclusion" content. Her son told her that "Gen Z is 30-40% queerer" and that Disney "better get with it." pic.twitter.com/CYYD7NqKZg

“And we, like you, Latoya, we jumped up and down, we celebrated that,” Burke said. In a separate clip, also posted by Christopher Rufo, Burke said she wants 50 percent of Disney characters to be racial minorities or LGBT.
“Nobody stopped us and it felt great. In part, I think nobody stopped us because we were targeting Gen Z and millennials,” Burke said. “We were targeting a younger, I think, more open-minded – and now we know, as my son texted me this morning, ‘Gen Z is 30-40% queerer than the other generations, Mom, so Disney better get with it.’”
Whether or not Burke’s “son” is really male is unclear. That’s because she also said at the townhall that she has “two queer children…one transgender child…and one pansexual child.” She has five children in total.

The Washington Examiner noted how Freeform has been named the “Gayest Network on Television.” It previously operated under the name ABC Family.
“Disney has worked to appeal to the LGBT community through some of its lesser-known platforms for several years,” the Examiner reported. “Freeform, previously known as ABC Family, was declared the ‘Gayest Network on Television’ by GLAAD in 2018. Freeform has released multiple LGBT-focused programs since 2018, including The Thing About Harry and Everything’s Going to Be Okay.”
The entertainment company told employees at the virtual townhall that it will help not only them, but their children, pay for genital and chemical mutilation.
“The other big area is gender identity and expression, so doing all of this work to ensure that our employees and cast can express their gender here authentically and proudly at the company,” one employee said during the employee meeting.
“So, you know, coming up with guides on how to change your photo, information about pronouns, working with our benefits team to give information about gender affirmation procedures both for our employees who are transitioning and trans, but also our employees who have kids who are transitioning,” he said.
LGBT activists have pressured the company for not doing enough to stop Florida’s anti-grooming law.
