Suddenly, the world’s largest internet search engine no longer recognizes unborn babies as “babies.”

This week, Students for Life of America noticed that the definition of “fetus” changed on Google to exclude the word “baby.”

Just a few weeks ago, Google defined “fetus” as “an unborn offspring of a mammal, in particular an unborn human baby more than eight weeks after conception,” according to a screen shot captured by Students for Life.

Now, when someone searches for the definition on Google, it reads “an offspring of a human or other mammal in the stages of prenatal development that follow the embryo stage (in humans taken as beginning eight weeks after conception.).”

Students for Life slammed the change as “gaslighting” in a post on Twitter.

“Google altered their definition of ‘fetus’ to not include the word ‘baby.’ They don’t want you to know the truth: a human fetus is a human baby,” the pro-life organization wrote.

According to Google, its dictionary definitions come from “third-party expert sources” and “don’t reflect the opinions of Google.”

“Google doesn’t create, write, or modify definitions,” the company states. “We license definitions, which include examples, similar and opposite words, and origins, from third-party experts who compile dictionaries.”

Google cited Oxford Languages as the source of its definition for the word “fetus.” However, the website Lexico, which also uses Oxford, still has the definition that includes the word “baby.”

The new definition on Google better meshes with a pro-abortion agenda, not science. Doctors confirm that fetuses are unborn babies – unique, living human beings who are separate individuals from their mothers.

“The Left goes on and on about ‘Follow the Science’ except when it comes to the abortion debate,” Heidi Overton, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Center for a Healthy America at the America First Policy Institute, wrote recently at LifeNews.com.

An unborn baby’s life begins at conception and, by the fetus stage (about eight weeks of pregnancy), already has almost all of his/her body parts. “During the first eight weeks of development, more than 90% of the body parts have formed. Already, the embryo will show a preference for either her right or left hand as she moves in the womb. The eyeballs finish forming,” according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute.

Even the current U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Women’s Health website, despite being run by the pro-abortion Biden administration, uses the word “baby” to describe the developing unborn child at the embryo and fetus stages.

“At four to five weeks: Your baby’s brain and spinal cord have begun to form. The heart begins to form. Arm and leg buds appear. Your baby is now an embryo and one-twenty-fifth inch long,” the HHS website tells expecting mothers.

The definition change follows similar actions by the pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and Planned Parenthood. Both recently changed language about unborn babiesabortions and ectopic pregnancies on their websites and brochures that better fits the current pro-abortion narrative.

Google, one of the most powerful companies in the world, has a history of leftist pro-abortion politics. It repeatedly has been accused of censoring information about abortion from pro-life advocates, including the life-saving abortion pill reversal treatment. A few years ago, the search engine described the pro-life movie “Unplanned” about the life of former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson as “propaganda.”
